Canine cryptorchidism: What is it?
About 13% of male canines have a change in their sexual development known as canine cryptorchidism. This illness cannot possibly afflict females. When one or more testicles are missing from the scrotal sac because they haven’t descended by the time they should have at 8 weeks old, this condition is known as cryptorchidism.
Dogs’ testicles move from birth to the inguinal canal during sexual development, eventually settling in the scrotal sac. Cryptorchidism can be diagnosed by palpation, with some cases requiring bilateral, inguinal, or abdominal testicles. Diagnosis is made through palpation and becomes conclusive after six months.
A hereditary disease that can be transferred from male to female dogs, canine cryptorchidism is predisposed to certain breeds of dogs. High temperatures in the undescended testicles are among the symptoms, although animals are not affected. Affected testicles may secrete excessive amounts of female hormones, resulting in feminisation syndrome, which alters a female dog’s posture when urinating.

Canine cryptorchidism prevention
A dog with canine cryptorchidism cannot be utilized for reproduction; it can only be avoided by choosing the right parents for reproduction. Even if the parents are clear of cryptorchidism, there is no 100% assurance that the kids will be free of this condition.
